Vic and Angelo's, South Beach (the old Devito's)

Last night we went to Vic and Angelos in South Beach where Devito’s used to be.
This is their third location in Florida (Palm Beach and Delray).
They did little changes to the Devito’s décor which was really nice to start. While Prime 112 and Prime Italian were hopping and totally full V&A was not. The first floor was 75% full and the second floor was 100% empty.
That being said the food was amazing. The bread was a great spicy garlic (really, really, really spicy) The kobe meatball was HUGE and the best I’ve ever had. The tuna tartar was good but not great. The filet mignon was tender and as good as I’ve had as was Mona-lee’s salmon. The cauliflower side was also great. The chocolate cake dessert was the biggest I’ve ever seen. Good for 4 people and bigger and better than The Palm chocolate cake.
Parking was $15 but again there is a public parking lot right next to Prime Italian for $4.00.
Service was good but not like Zuma or The Dutch.
Bill was $155/couple including tip and drinks.
8/10 but I don’t think they are going to survive in the long run.

Pascha's Healthy Mediterranean Cuisine, Lincoln Road

Quick Review! Don't go! 0/10. Got sucked in by 'healthy'

The Dutch, W Hotel in South Beach

Last night we went to The Dutch restaurant at the W hotel in South Beach. It replaced the previous restaurant that was off the lobby, so Mr. Chow is still at the W.
The Dutch is a NY restaurant by Chef Andrew Carmellini
Things started off great in that we could park in a public parking lot just 20 yards from the entrance for $3.00 instead of $20.00 and I didn’t have to wait for my car.
The restaurant opened last Monday and it was simply beautiful. They did an amazing job making it warm. Reminded me of a large Liverpool House from Montreal.
Then the best news of the night—Seth from STK was the General Manager. To me that meant great service and ‘no attitude’ like next door with John at Mr. Chow.
The service was ‘Zuma-like’. People cleaning your table after every course, offering to re-fill your glasses and making sure everything was to your liking. Three different managers and the maître d, Onju, all regularly checked on us. The service was as good as it gets.
The menu was also great. Mona-Lee had the oysters and said they were great as was the chicken and scallop main courses. My salad was different with pears, ham and cheese, but just OK. The desserts were amazing, especially the blueberry-crumble pie. They have different homemade pies each day.
The best news is that The Dutch is also open for breakfast and lunch and has a beautiful outdoor seating area to boot. We will likely try brunch on Sunday as still looking for that great breakfast place.
The bill was very low because Seth comped the drinks and desserts at $106 including tip. 18% tip included in the bill, 20% for parties of 6+.
My only minor complaint was the ‘Vegas Diet Coke’ i.e. more ice than diet coke.
Bottom Line: We are definitely going back

Season's 52 for Dinner, Galleria Mall, Ft. Lauderdale

I had been to Season's 52 for lunch before (see previous review) and loved it so I decided to try them for dinner.

It was just as good!

Place was packed. They honored the reservation on time(I'm told they pay attention to this unlike certain places like Prime 112).

Service was amazing and everything we ordered was delicious and you knew the exact calories of everything you ordered.

The flatbreads were the best (300 calories for 4 people) as were the desserts that were 150 to 350 calories.

I wish they had one in Miami.

I will definately go back.

$210 incl tip for 4 people with 4 drinks.

59th and Lex at Bloomingdale's for Lunch

Went to this restaurant I never heard of for lunch at Bloomingdale's at Aventura Mall.

Very pleasantly surprised. Very bright and a great menu of salads and sandwiches.

Also a great looking Sunday Brunch for $15.

Salads were great! Supposedly famous for their frozen yogurt called Forty Carrots.

Will go back.

8/10 for lunch.

Mister Collins, ONE Bal Harbour

Went to Mister Collins at ONE Bal Harbour, despite the stupid name, last night.

The service was great but the restaurant was half empty.

The salad was lousy but everything else was good. The dessert was different and refreshing.

The menu was limited.

There was nothing bad but also nothing that said I HAVE TO GO AGAIN.

So I will not go again.

6.5/10

$125 incl tip with 2 drinks using Miami Spice menu.
